While not officially summer yet, Gulf Shores Memorial Day weekend marks the start of beach season. That means a lot of fun, family-friendly (for the most part) activities. 42nd 2019 MBGFC Memorial Day Tournament
May 23-27
J&M Tackle, 25125 Canal Road, Orange Beach
The Mobile Big Game Fishing Club hosts its annual Memorial Day tournament with boats vying for $1 million in prizes. The J&M Tackle Weigh Dock at Perdido Pass is open from 5-9 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, so head down to see the monster fish these anglers reel in.
Pepsi Beach Ball Drop

This huge celebration is for the entire family with face painting, a bouncy house, surf rides, rock climbing wall and more. Then at 6:45 p.m., watch as 5,000 beach balls fall from the sky, some marked and redeemable for prizes. Stick around for fireworks at 8:45 p.m. Admission is free, though some activities have a fee.

Thomas Rhett is bringing his Very Hot Summer Tour to The Wharf Amphitheater for two nights on May 25-26. Special guests are Dustin Lynch, Russell Dickerson and Rhett Akins. It’s all part of the 2019 C Spire Concert Series, and you can purchase tickets here.
Living History Memorial Day-Wreath Laying Tribute

Fort Morgan hosts its Gulf Shores Memorial Day weekend commemoration May 25 with a wreath-laying ceremony planned for the crew of the Tecumseh, which sank in waters just off the Fort. Re-enactors show activity at the Fort from the War of 1812 to World War II, remembering those who gave their lives in service. There will be weapons demonstrations and artillery firing, as well as guided tours. Regular admission will be charged.

The annual LuLuPalooza Summer 2019 Kick Off Party is a family-day filled with fun and back-to-back live music on the Crazy Sista Boat Stage. It’s a can’t-miss event for Gulf Shores Memorial Day weekend.
USSSA Global Sports Baseball 300 Point Battle at the Beach

NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship

Watch elite men and women college athletes compete in the 2019 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. Tickets are $10 per day.
Paradise Island 5K Run

Register now to participate in the 3rd Paradise Island 5K walk/run at the Orange Beach Sportsplex. The 5K certified course is on the paved natural trail and takes participants through several of the Backcountry Trails.
Miss Memorial Day Bikini Contest

The Flora-Bama’s Miss Memorial Day Bikini Contest may not be as family-friendly as other events, but it’s just as much of a holiday, beach tradition. Compete to win cash and prizes and to be Miss Flora-Bama. Sign-ups begin at 1 p.m. in the tent. Top three finalists come back to compete for Miss Flora-Bama on Labor Day weekend.
