Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge -
Established in 1980, the Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is a 7,000-acre habitat on the Gulf Coast. Bon Secour, meaning safe harbor in French, serves to protect the coastal dunes which are home to migratory birds, nesting sea turtles and endangered species.The Refuge also offers a series of walking trails that wind through such diverse habitats as wetlands, dunes, swales, scrub habitats and maritime forests. Fort Morgan State Historic Site -
A visit to Fort Morgan State Historic Site on Mobile Bay is a step back in time to the Civil War, Spanish American War and World War I and II. The most famous battle at Fort Morgan is the Battle of Mobile Bay. Visitors can walk among the fort's ruins, participate in living history programs, and browse the museum. Dauphin Island Audubon Bird Sanctuary is recognized as one of the most important bird migration sites in the world. Located on Dauphin Island, the sanctuary comprises 164 acres of varied habitats: maritime forests, dunes, marches, beach, swamp and a lake. Dauphin Island Audubon Bird Sanctuary is the first landfall for neo-tropical birds migrating in the spring to the Gulf Coast from South and Central America.
